"Steps in Time"

To walk a Forgotten Farmstead
Is to journey through the shadows
of moments long since lived.
When families sat upon their porch
Counting the stars.

And their talk was of the corn
Would grow as tall as it did last year,
Or if the rains were coming
to wet down the summer heat, and
Touch their crops.

but the voices drift off
Into the silence of the years.
Down the rutted narrow road
leading to the Farmstead
in the valley.
